The most recent studies conducted by The European Environment Agency in 2013 show that transport is the second most important greenhouse gas emissions source in Europe, representing over 20% of the total. As both global and local emission reduction measures are in order, ALD Automotive launches an eco-driving program in collaboration with the Titi Aur Defensive Driving School.
The European Environment Agency reports show the progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Europe during the years and identify the main greenhouse gas sources in the atmosphere. The first place is occupied by the energy industry with 31% of the total, followed by transport (20.3%), the residential and commercial emissions (14%) and the manufacturing and construction industries with 11% of the total. Furthermore, an independent report published by the US Energy Information Administration shows the total CO2 emissions in Europe, placing Romania on the 28th place, with an annual value of about 86 million tons. Romania is outranked by countries such as: Slovakia (34 million tons/year), Switzerland (43 million tons/year), Denmark (46 million tons/year), Norway (45 million tons/year) or Hungary (49 million tons/year).
Taking into account the international situation and global statistics, it is every company’s duty to introduce preventive measures which will help reduce its negative impact on the environment. Thus, as a long term commitment towards protecting the environment and as a sign of involvement in the communities’ life, ALD Automotive offers local companies a new tool and kicks off its eco-driving program in Romania. Part of the international ALD bluefleet initiative, the courses are offered in partnership with the renowned Titi Aur Defensive Driving School and offer 3 alternatives: defensive driving with introductory notions in eco driving, eco driving with defensive driving notions and a full eco driving program. The courses are held at the Titi Aur School or the customers’ premises and consist of theoretical and practical modules.
Participants will be encouraged to adopt a set of safer, environmental friendlier driving skills, improving their driving behaviour while maintaining a low gas emission, reduced fuel consumption and protecting the environment. The eco driving classes are available for all ALD Automotive’s clients and offer information which will help drivers develop their driving techniques in order to reduce the number of accidents, ensure road safety, reduce operational costs and gain an environment friendly driving attitude.
The eco driving courses are part of the ALD bluefleet initiative, an international program that reunites all of the Group’s environmental activities. ALD bluefleet also includes an emission-oriented fleet analysis which measures the precise fleet footprint and associates levers to reduce gas emissions as well as international offset programs available worldwide.
The Titi Aur Defensive Driving School offers the most reputable defensive driving program in Romania and with a team of 12 professional drivers, has instructed more than 25,000 students. The school offers unique facilities and simulators, for a challenging experience and enhanced driving skills.
